Barrett Loves America!

The collar came out great! I decided not to make a matching leash since we already have quite a few.

The draft for this is:

The uppercase letters are heddled, the lowercase are not. I used Aunt Lydia's Fashion Crochet size 3 thread in yellow and of course the red, white, and blue. The yellow was used for the edge ('g/G' in the draft) and the weft.

I've pulled the inkle loom out of the closet this week and have two FOs and a new WIP that I'm loving...

This one has been mailed to my dad. He had requested a brown and black leash and I finally got around to making it. My mom will be doing the sewing and adding the hardware (my sewing machine isn't working right now).

I had started this a while back and finally got around to finishing. It was an attempt at shoelaces and it worked, but I would have to make another to have a pair and I just don't feel like making a second one. Soooo, it'll become something else instead.

An American flag band that will become a collar and leash set for Barrett! I really love how this is coming out. I saw a few drafts for similar designs online, but I modded this one to suit my preferences. I will post the pattern soon, once I am finished with this project.

Crazy Dog Lady

Ok, I promise that I haven't abandoned knitting! It's just not very exciting to see a gray stockinette top that is 2 inches longer than the last picture!

Pattern from Urban Threads.

Cowboy Needle Book

I followed Wild Olive's tutorial and made myself a much-needed needle book:

I got the cow print felt on clearance from Joann's (10 cents per sheet... I took all they had) and the other was from stash. I found the boot pattern in a search for western clipart. I love how it turned out!

Still Obsessed

I just can't stop stitching! My knitting mojo was completely gone there for a little while, but it's finally starting to creep back...

I had much than this done on the Cap Sleeve Lattice Top, but had to frog the entire thing after realizing that I had cast on twice the number of stitches needed and that I had been happily knitting a tent without even knowing it. Ugh. The second attempt seems to be the right size and I've been working on it a little each night.

Most of my time has been going toward embroidery. It's just so satisfying and quick. I think that's why I have been preferring it to knitting lately... I work on the top and see no real production for the amount of time I put into it, but I can finish a small embroidery project in no time.

The Summer Stitching Club has been so much fun and I still say to jump in and join! It's only 8.00 and you can join anytime (you will receive all the patterns released so far). This is everything so far (the sno cone was just released yesterday and wasn't yet added to the big picture when I took it):

Isn't it turning out so cute?!

I have already made and put together the non-stitched hexis, so am just waiting for each Monday to get the new release. I love these simple summery designs and mentioned to Wild Olive that it would be awesome to have fall, winter, and spring versions so that I could join all the seasons together into a lap quilt... she said that she does have plans for something fun, so we'll see!

I have also been working on some of my own designs... Swirly Animals! I have been drawing and stitching and these are what I have done so far:

They aren't perfect, but I like them well enough. I have a few more already drawn out that just need to be stitched (a dog, a grasshopper, a guinea pig, a second bird, and a few others).

A Week in Grand Rapids

Charlie had ASTP (medic recert) in Grand Rapids last week and Arthur and I got to tag along this time! We spent most of the time in the hotel room because we only have one car, but it was fun anyway and a nice break from the ho-hum days at home. A special and very unexpected thing to come from this trip... I got to visit with a very good friend that I haven't seen or spoken to in 3 years! Goretzka went through Basic and AIT with me and we were best of friends (and I guess you could say that we were romantically interested in each other for a little bit as well), but lost touch since then. I had forgotten that he was from GR and he happened to work at the McDonald's right next to the hotel! I was so happy to see him again and be able to catch up --- it was as if no time had passed at all since our last meeting. We hung out for a little bit everyday but one and I enjoyed it very much.

Anyway, here are some pictures from the trip, some are from the hotel and the rest are from the Meijer Gardens:
